The Dim River, as the Alanya Jeep Safari 4x4 Shows It
Not a travel-guide entry — the river as the day meets it, in order: under the wheels, behind the dam, the late-morning swim, the lunch table, the afternoon swim stop.
Short answer
The Dim runs down from the Taurus to the sea east of Alanya, and the 4x4 day keeps coming back to it: river crossings where the track meets the water and photo stops at a waterfall and the turquoise Dim Dam on the way up, then a swim in the river with a drinks stop between 10:30 and 12:00 (or the Dim Cave instead, for an extra fee), lunch at a riverside restaurant after the village, and a swim stop from 14:00 to 14:45 before the drive back.
Under the wheels, behind the dam
High up, the river runs shallow and quick over stones, and the track goes through it rather than over a bridge. The jeeps cross at walking pace with the water around the wheels — in summer, that is where the water fights begin.
Further on come two photo stops: a waterfall, and the Dim Dam, where the held-back water turns the turquoise the valley is known for. We make no claim about swimming at the dam; the swims are in the river.
The late-morning swim
After the briefing and the start at 10:00, the jeeps climb through the pine-scented Taurus slopes, and the late morning is spent at the river: a swim in the Dim and a drinks stop. Drinks are extra. Guests who would rather see the Dim Cave take that instead, with its fee paid at the cave.
Beside the table
After the village, lunch is at a riverside restaurant on the Dim. The meal is in the fare and drinks are paid at the table.
The last swim
From 14:00 to 14:45 the programme has one more swim stop, and at 15:00 the jeeps head back to the hotels. Swimwear, a towel and sports shoes or sandals are on the operator's list; the lunch and swim page has the detail.
